After closing its doors in 2011, the Dallas Independent School District’s immigrant intake center will be reopening in Knox-Henderson along Henderson Avenue. The Margaret and Gilbert Herrera Student Intake Center will serve immigrants and refugees as they acclimate to the United States and adapt to life within a Dallas ISD school. The intake center will include the following services:
- School registration
- Counseling for academics
- School supplies
- Language proficiency assessments
There will be an opening ceremony for staff and community members at the new intake center on Friday, August 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The center will be officially open to serve students on Monday, August 12.
